quite the conundrum

Two pieces of advice on the topic of marriage taught at different times by my amazing former Branch President:

1. If you cannot be happily single, you cannot hope to be happily married.

2. A good and righteous marriage brings the greatest happiness you can possibly imagine.

What Katy learned from said advice:

If I cannot go from being unhappily single to happily married AND If I cannot be truly happy until I'm married

THEN

I will never be happily married.

Nice.

I'm just sayin'. ha ha!

p.s. I would feel guilty not including the fact that I absolutely adore this man! I present this conundrum, not because I think he intended for me to interpret his advice in this way, but because I find it funny. In reality, I think this Branch President has done more to put my singlehood in perspective than just about anyone I know. I got a good laugh out of these seemingly opposing pieces of advice...
